The Jon Taylor Award recognises outstanding achievements and is bestowed on a person who has contributed in a voluntary capacity, to the growth and development of dragon boating in Australia for a minimum of five years and across a number of levels of the sport. Previous DBSA winners are:

The "State v State" competition at the Australian Dragon Boat Championships (AusChamps) has been a staple of the event for many years, It serves as the premier opportunity for state teams to represent their region with historical results recorded back to at least 2001.
