ACDC OFFER 4 FREE SESSIONS TO SEE IF DRAGON BOATING IS THE SPORTING ACTIVITY FOR YOU- GIVE US A CALL!
We are ACDC Adelaide Combined Dragon Boat Club (ACDC) who go paddling, have fun and get fit.
A couple of experienced dragon-boaters facilitated the formation of this Club and had the foresight to see that country teams struggle to build their numbers due to being in isolated areas and, therefore, developed our Club so that everyone has an equal chance to participate in dragon boating no matter where they are in South Australia.
ACDC is the newest Club in South Australia (formed in 2016).
Mentored by dedicated personnel with 40 years of experience, accreditation in coaching, sweeping and officiating, 36 Australian, 16 World Club Crew & 3 World Championships between them and serving on the State Association, DragonBoat SA, for a combined 32 years, we are being introduced to this amazing sport by very accomplished and committed people. In 2019 one of our members was elected as Chair of the Australian Dragon Boat Federation (AusDBF).
Our Mission Statement
We aim to be recognised as a progressive, cohesive and friendly Club encouraging participation from committed and dedicated members in all age groups.
ACDC began in early 2016 and slowly recruited like-minded and passionate people, and have grown to 60+ members.
We are also the first Club in SA to form a Junior crew (10-18yrs). We assist them to develop friendships, leadership and team building skills; health & fitness and develop an affinity for water as well as a cultural education of dragon boating.
Dragon boating is an inexpensive, challenging sport we all enjoy. We pride ourselves on being family-friendly, multi-cultural, inclusive and with a passion for success.
With the love of the sport, dedication to its growth and development, the support of founding members and our recruitment program, ACDC has evolved into a force to be reckoned with.
We now have 3 regions in the ACDC family. They are:
ACDC welcomes all new paddlers to the Club. All paddlers are given 4 FREE Come & Try sessions. After these sessions you will be addicted, will love our Club and its members (who range in age from 10-70+) and will want to join us.
Training Times and Venues
Aquatic Reserve, Cnr Bower & Old Port Roads, West Lakes (enter off Bower Road)
The Old Sailing Club, 1 Jenkins Street, Birkenhead
The last session is usually followed by a coffee at a local café.
During these sessions you will be taught the basics over 4 weekly sessions. When proficient you will be invited to join the Sports paddlers on other days of the week.
You may simply choose to be a recreational paddler (until that competitive spirit kicks in). Beyond local competition are annual Australian Championships, State representation, international championships and festivals and representing Australia as an "Aurora" in World championships.
Come on – Give it a Go!
