If you enjoy the blue waters of the ocean you will have fun paddling with us!
Blue Water Raiders, a group of men and women with a passion for dragon boating and enjoying fun both on and off the water, have achieved much since the formation our club in 2004. The club owns two Champion dragon boats and two full sets of equipment located in Port Lincoln and Tumby Bay where members gather each week to socialise and paddle the waters of Boston Bay, Second Creek and Tumby Bay.
We enjoy the camaraderie of other clubs and have participated in adventure paddles including a 57 kilometre paddle on the Ord River, Kununurra and a 41 kilometre “Four Bridges” course on the Derwent River, Hobart. We have taken our boat to Waikerie to paddle a section of the River Murray over two days with a lot of fun and laugher along the way, as well as in the local waters of Coffin Bay and Venus Bay.
We have been successful at competing in Australian, South Australian and Regional Masters Games - winning gold, silver and bronze medals. Many of our members have competed in race regattas in Adelaide and in the SA Regional Squad at National Championships. We have travelled to Broome, entering the Broome Regatta and bringing home the Broome Cup. Along with Dragons Abreast Port Lincoln we established a Regional Regatta and Corporate Challenge which was held for the first two years at the Port Lincoln foreshore before becoming an event held in a different region each year.
Our club promotes a team and family environment for paddlers, arranging family and social paddling days at various locations around Port Lincoln and Tumby Bay where paddling with dolphins and seals frolicking in our wake is not uncommon. We encourage the promotion of sport and becoming involved in the "Be Active" schools program.
Everyone welcome to come and have a try. All equipment supplied. First 4 paddles are free. Membership categories include adults, seniors 67 and over, juniors aged 12-18 and social members.
