Class - Sports – Powerblades aims to compete in all eligible categories
The Powerblades Club was established in 1989 through an early association with the "ETSA 'power' company" and since then has had considerable success in dragon boat competitions locally, nationally and internationally. It is the oldest surviving Dragon Boat club in South Australia.
Club members have been medal winners at the South Australian State Championships in a range of categories in most years since our first success in 1991.
Club members have been in the South Australian State Team training squads in most years since national competition began, and were represented in the 2004 and 2012 Australian National Teams competing in Shanghai, China and Florida, USA respectively.
Our club has competed in nearly all Australian Championship events since their inception and the club holds the greatest number of wins for the annual "Long Course" or "Around the Island" race, of all the SA clubs.
Powerblades has a strong ethic for training and competing and aims to produce teams and team members whose fitness and capacity allows them to enjoy competing at the highest level.
The Powerblades Dragon Boat Racing Club is associated with the club culture programs ‘GoodSports’ and ‘Play By The Rules’ and is working towards becoming a ‘STARCLUB’.
We welcome new members to the sport of Dragon Boat Racing and look forward to introducing new and potential members to our club, its members and a new world of friendship, fitness, camaraderie and fun. The structured Club training program is designed to enable Club members to develop the strength and fitness base to gain maximum enjoyment from the sport. We aim to compete in all categories in which we have capacity to compete.
Training days and times
The main training venue is the Aquatic Reserve, near the corner of Bower Rd and Old Port Rd at West Lakes. The first 4 training sessions for new paddlers is FREE.
