Class - Sport, all age groups and fun

Originally formed as a Corporate (social level) team within the Australian Submarine Corporation, the SUBSONIX Dragon Boat Club has been competing in State, National and International dragon boat competition since 1990.

Over the years, our club has mirrored the focus of most Australian dragon boating clubs, and now competes at the elite (sports) level of competition. This shift has endorsed the Clubs competitiveness, with new and seasoned paddlers combing to bring us experience and success at state and national levels.

SUBSONIX have continuously fielded a strong team of paddlers from all sexes, varying ages, differing cultures and diverse backgrounds. However, we also cater for those who want to just paddle socially for fun and fitness, allowing people to enter the sport without necessarily needing the intense training required for the Sports level of competition.

This season, SUBSONIX will compete in all local divisions of dragon boat racing, - including Open (any age or sex), Mixed (any age, half men and half women), 10's (no more than ten paddlers in any of the preceding divisions), 20's (no more than twenty paddlers in any of the preceding divisions) and Master's (40 years of age and over, any division). SUBSONIX will also be competing in the Australian National Championships to be held in Penrith in April 2018 and the Club Crew World Championships to be held in Hungary in 2018

We have again this season, successfully united a highly competitive team of paddlers who include Australian Aurora's (National Team), State Team Paddlers, marathon paddlers and paddlers who have raced internationally at dragon boat festivals throughout the world. We start the season having qualified for the Club Crew World Championships to be held in Hungary in 2018.

It is already clear from our pre-season training sessions, that this year's SUBSONIX team members possess the drive, attitude, commitment and camaraderie to strive together for that which is not within easy reach, they know what it takes to be the best at what they do.

New Members

Subsonix always welcomes new members and encourages them to come out and give it a go. In your first training session, you will be taught the basics, and then be invited to a proper training session. We are also happy to take out interested groups of social paddlers for 'come and try' activities.
