Jing Lee said she was honoured to take on the role, emphasising her continued dedication to serving the community beyond her years in public office. “Leaving politics didn’t end my commitment to South Australia — it simply changed the way I contribute. I’m passionate about giving back, supporting grassroots organisations, and championing the incredible diversity and spirit of our community. Dragon boating brings people together in such a powerful way, and I’m excited to help shine a light on that.”
She added that her commitment to community didn’t end when her parliamentary service concluded. “Public service isn’t defined by a title. After leaving politics, I wanted to continue giving back in ways that strengthen community connection and celebrate our diversity. Dragon boating does exactly that — it brings people together, builds resilience, and showcases the best of South Australia.”
As Patron, Jing will help elevate the profile of dragon boating, encourage participation across all ages and backgrounds, and support DBSA’s mission to build a welcoming, inclusive sporting community. Her long-standing advocacy for multicultural harmony, community engagement, and community wellbeing aligns naturally with the values of the sport.
DBSA President, Peter Button, welcomed the appointment, noting that Jing’s leadership, energy, and community focus will strengthen the organisation’s visibility and impact across South Australia and beyond.
Jing’s Patronship is centred on inspiration, connection, and celebration — reflecting her ongoing commitment to serve with passion, purpose, and heart.
